Coastal German Shepherd Rescue

Cruiser has been adopted! 01-01-2006

Female about 0 old.

“Cruiser” is a gorgeous 7 year old neutered German Shepherd. He is an affectionate and loyal boy who is looking for a home. Cruiser began his life as part of a guide dog puppy program. He lived with a family who was responsible for teaching him basic manners (housetraining/obedience/socialization). He attended obedience classes and group puppy meetings. He was well socialized to many situations that he would face if he went on to be a guide dog – public transportation/restaurants/traffic/etc. Unfortunately his size and temperament just wasn’t compatible with the rigors of guidework and he was adopted back to his raisers. After 6 years of living with his family, they moved and decided not to take their family member with them.

Cruiser lived with a husband, wife and another German Shepherd. He is a sweet boy who enjoys ball playing and being active. Although he is quite relaxed just sitting at your feet too! He doesn’t show excessive interest in cats. He is also good with other dogs when introductions are done appropriately and interactions are supervised at first – he can try to be bossy if you let him. He would do well with a handler who will direct him if he behaves inappropriately – he thinks he knows best – but sometimes he doesn’t!

The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
