Athena has been adopted! 02-13-2010
Athena embodies all that a balanced dog should. She is calm, confident, relaxed - she came into a foster home after less than 24 hours out of a shelter and fit right in. Challenged by an adolescent male (who outweighs her by about 30 lbs), she merely stuck her head back over his neck, no growling, no drama, just calm energy and he immediately knew where he was in her court. She is ardently pursued by all the boys in her foster home but her heart belongs to Rolfe, one of her buddies on her ride to freedom. If you are looking for two dogs, Rolfe & Athena are an absolute dream team. They have been sleeping together in a crate and she looks over him - he is 110% committed to her. Of course, if you are looking for one dog, Athena is a dream girl. She's probably about 3 years old, she has some obedience training, appears to be house broken and is aching to please the humans around her.
The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
