Corey has been adopted! 07-31-2011

Female about old.

We received a call from a vet's office asking us to help Corey. Brought in for an exam for an injured toe, the family was informed that the toe needed to be removed. They opted to have him killed. Even though (as usual), we were slammed to the brim, we said ok to bringing him in.

After taking him to our own vet, it was determined that we ought to try some anti inflammatories & antibiotics before amputating. So we'll see where we are with this in a week or so. He doesn't seem to be in pain. Corey is a happy guy, maybe 12 - 15 mos old. It looks like someone or something ran over his foot as there are two healing fractures in the toe.

Update 5/20/11

After antibiotics, etc., we finally had to make the decision to remove Corey's infected toe. Well, this only adds to his personality - this guy is a 110% total ham. Corey always has a giant smile on his face and draws people (and dogs!) into his circle. He just loves any person he meets and that pretty much applies to dogs too! Corey would be an awesome dog park/dog beach kind of guy. He's got that beach boy personality in that he just wants to party and live & let live. This young guy is active, would make a great jogging or skateboarding buddy too.

The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
